A prestigious international tournament, the ICU (International Cheerleading Union) Cup, was held in Orlando (USA) on April 29. Athletes from 13 countries competed there: Croatia, Hungary, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, Colombia, Israel, Mongolia, Australia, the Philippines, Italy, Georgia, Ecuador, and Ukraine.
The duo of Anastasia Maloshenko and Yelyzaveta Tymofeeva from Lviv became the strongest of 16 pairs in the category. The second place went to cheerleaders from Ecuador, and the Croatian team rounded out the top three.
Another Ukrainian duo, Kateryna Karpova and Arina Morarenko, took fourth place.
“It should be reminded that the World Cheerleading Championships were also held in Orlando on the eve of the ICU Cup. There, the duo of Maloshenko and Timofeeva took second place, losing to the bronze medalists by less than a point. And this was the best result among all the participants from Europe,” adds Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
