On December 21, at 4:50 p.m., the Rescue Service “101” received a report about a fire in the city of Zhovkva on the street. Doroshenko, 12 b.
The fire broke out in an apartment on the second floor of a five-story residential building. As it turned out, at the time of the fire, the husband of the owner of the apartment was in the apartment with their 5-month-old child.
The man could not get out of the dangerous room on his own, since the source of the fire was near the entrance door. The fire caused heavy smoke.
By the time the fire department arrived, the man was on the balcony with the child in his arms.
In a matter of minutes, the firefighters of the city of Zhovkva and the operative group of the Lviv District Administration arrived at the scene.
So, upon arriving at the scene, with the help of a retractable ladder, the rescuers in their hands lowered the child from the balcony and handed it over to the ambulance workers for examination. Since the man could not get down from the balcony with a ladder, the rescuers took him out of the dangerous apartment filled with toxic smoke to fresh air and handed him over to the medical workers.
In parallel with rescuing the victims, firefighters were working on extinguishing the fire. Therefore, thanks to the timely involvement of forces and means, it was possible to promptly eliminate the fire and prevent the fire from spreading. At 5:01 p.m., firefighters contained the fire and at 5:10 p.m. it was extinguished by the gas and smoke protection service unit. As a result of the fire, household items on an area of 5 square meters and the entrance door were destroyed by fire. Walls on an area of 3.5 square meters and a ceiling on an area of 5 square meters were also damaged.
5 personnel and 1 unit of special equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
The fire was probably caused by a battery located in the corridor in the compartment closet. The reasons and details of the incident are being investigated by law enforcement agencies.
