Patriotic tours of Lviv region: we invite you to visit the wooden tower of memory, more than 40 meters high

In the series “Patriotic tours of Lviv Region”, the Department of Tourism and Resorts offers to climb the tower of memory, near the village of Nedilna. The distance from Lviv in the direction of Sambir district is 115 km.

Sunday was the center of the liberation movement for a long time and was nicknamed “Kyiv”. Once upon a time, the Constituent Assembly of the Ukrainian Main Liberation Council was held in this area and there was a sub-chief’s school of the UPA. The training lasted up to 400 hours.

In 1943, the Nazis decided to destroy the patriotic center. Three thousand soldiers were recruited for the military operation. There were only 105 rebels. In an unequal battle, they gave a decent rebuff to the enemy. More than 300 occupiers were killed. 43 of our soldiers died.

As a sign of respect for the fallen Ukrainians, a 43-meter tower with a cross at the top, located at an altitude of 907 meters above sea level, was erected. This is recorded in the Book of Records of Ukraine.

The tower has a belfry. When you are near her, call for the fallen. The tower of memory stands on Mount Deal. Climbing to the top is not difficult, since the height difference is insignificant. There is a recreation area not far from the memorial. There is also a shelter where you can spend the night.

The idea to build the tower came from Ihor Pihotskyi, a native of the village of Nedilna. Oles Dzindra realized the idea in the style of traditional Boyki wooden architecture.

There is also a museum of Kyril Osmak, the president of the Ukrainian Main Liberation Council, in Nedilnaya. The time of the visit must be agreed by phone: 0961475967.
