Stryi is reestablishing diplomatic and friendly ties with the city of Mansfield in the United Kingdom.
The twinning agreement between the cities was signed back in 1997, but since then, there had been no real steps towards cooperation. Recently, after a 28-year hiatus, a ceremony to renew the twinning relationship agreement took place at Mansfield’s town center, invited by the mayor. The document was signed by the head of the Stryi community, Oleh Kanivets, and the mayor of Mansfield, Andy Abrahams.
The areas of work for 2026 were immediately identified: schools and youth, sports and health, business and skills, culture and heritage. “May our cities—bound by a common purpose—continue to prove that good neighborliness is stronger than distance. Welcome to Mansfield. Let’s get to work!” the British stated in their address.
Special thanks to Stryian Tetyana and her husband Adam Tudor for their support. Special greetings also to the ‘Ukrainian Nottingham Ensemble’, whose members are 2nd to 4th generation Ukrainians who consider English as their native language but sing in Ukrainian and preserve the traditions of their ancestors.
