Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office, a 34-year-old native of Mariupol was served a notice of suspicion.
He is charged with illegal manufacture, storage, transportation and sale of a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance in particularly large amounts and illegal purchase and storage of precursors for the purpose of using them for the manufacture of a psychotropic substance for sale (Part 2, 3 of Article 307, Part 2 of Article 311 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect, who had knowledge of the synthesis of chemical compounds, organised a drug business.
To do this, the man rented garage premises in Drohobych district and set up laboratories for the production of the psychotropic substance PVP. The “workplaces” were equipped with special equipment and tools. The precursors from which the psychotropic was produced were delivered to the defendant by post.
Subsequently, the finished product in the form of so-called “masterclasses” was sold in Western Ukraine.
These drug labs produced about 40 kg of PVP on an industrial scale.
According to preliminary information, the monthly profit was over UAH 16 million.
During the searches of the garage premises, the suspect’s residence and car, the SBU found and seized precursors, means and equipment for the manufacture of a particularly psychotropic substance, electronic scales, mobile phones, SIM cards, bank cards, psychotropic substances in crystalline and liquid form, as well as other drugs.
The issue of choosing a type of detention is being decided.
The investigation is ongoing. All involved persons are being identified.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out under the operational support of the DCO of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
