In the Khmelnytskyi region, law enforcement officers have uncovered a scheme to steal and sell fuel and lubricants intended for a military unit.
According to the investigation, the person implicated in organising the sale of army fuel turned out to be a 57-year-old staff sergeant, a driver in one of the unit’s divisions. He had access to the fuel and was responsible for its transportation and distribution.
Investigators believe this allowed false information to be entered into official records, artificially inflating fuel consumption and concealing the actual remaining stocks. This created surpluses which were then sold for cash.
According to law enforcement officers, diesel fuel was sold at 35–50 hryvnias per litre, and petrol from 50 hryvnias per litre.
An instance has been documented in which, in May 2026, the sale of one tonne of diesel fuel was arranged. Investigators are establishing the circumstances of the case and the possible circle of those involved in the scheme.
