
Lviv Region Police Arrest Suspect in Attempted Arson of a House
In the Lviv region, police have arrested a man suspected of attempting to set a house on fire. The 24-year-old resident of Boryslav faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to ten years.
Crime Details
As law enforcement established, the crime was committed on March 10 around 20:00 in the city of Boryslav, Drohobych district. The perpetrator doused the walls and window of the house with a flammable substance and set it on fire, then fled the scene. Fortunately, residents of neighboring houses were able to quickly extinguish the fire, and no one was injured.
Investigation and Arrest
Detectives from the criminal police, investigators, and officers from other services of the Police Division No. 1 of the Drohobych District Police Department were involved in solving the crime. Through their efforts, law enforcement identified the whereabouts of the arsonist, a 24-year-old resident of Boryslav, and detained him in compliance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Physical evidence was seized from him.
Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office, have informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a crime as defined by Part 2, Article 15 – Part 2, Article 194 (Attempted Intentional Destruction or Damage to Property) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a penalty of imprisonment from three to ten years.
Pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon decide on preventive measures for the suspect.
