In Sambir Oblast, a 61-year-old man set fire to the house of his ex-wife’s sister

The house of the ex-wife’s sister was set on fire – in the Lviv region, investigators informed the husband of the suspicion of intentional destruction of property

A 61-year-old resident of the Sumy region, who was previously held criminally liable, faces up to ten years in prison for the crime.

According to law enforcement officers, on the night of November 3, in one of the villages of the Sambir region, an intruder broke a window and entered a house belonging to his ex-wife’s sister. No one lived in the house for the time being, so the man set things on fire and scattered them in the rooms, after which he fled the scene. A fire broke out, as a result of which the house was seriously damaged by fire.

Detectives of the criminal police and investigators of the Sambir District Police Department, as well as employees of the Department of Criminal Analysis of the Police of Lviv Oblast were involved in solving the crime. Through the conducted measures, using the recordings of video surveillance cameras located within the “Safe Lviv Region” program, the law enforcement officers established the whereabouts of the wanted person – he was in Lviv.

Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Sambir District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Article 194 (Intentional destruction or damage to property) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to ten years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the suspect.
