Woman Identified in Lviv for Launching Fireworks on New Year’s Eve

Police in Lviv have identified a 37-year-old woman who launched fireworks in the Sykhiv district on New Year’s Eve, violating current legislation. She now faces up to five years of restricted liberty.

The incident was reported to the police on December 31 at around 9:00 PM. The investigation involved criminal police operatives, officers from Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Administration, and specialists from the Criminal Analysis Department of the Lviv Region Police.

After reviewing footage from the “Safe Lviv Region” surveillance system, authorities confirmed the woman’s identity. She has been charged with hooliganism under Article 296, Part 1, of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The penalties for this offense include:

  • A fine of 1,000 to 2,000 non-taxable minimum incomes,
  • Probationary supervision for up to five years,
  • Or restricted liberty for the same period.

The pretrial investigation is ongoing.

Law enforcement reminds citizens that during martial law in Ukraine, the sale and use of pyrotechnic devices are prohibited. Violations can lead to both administrative and criminal liability.
