Lake “Promin” in Zhydachevo was once created as an artificial reservoir for the technological needs of PJSC “Zhydachevo TsPK”
It was here, through a specially constructed water pipe, that the enterprise discharged technical water, which was used to cool the turbines at the Zhydachiv CPP CHPP. After stopping the thermal power plant, the plant reduced the consumption of technical water by 90%, so there was no need to dump water into the lake. Therefore, 2.5 years ago, the enterprise carried out a reconstruction of the water pipe with partial dismantling of the pipes, due to which the feeding of the lake stopped, according to the website of the Zhydachiv community.
The city authorities held a series of meetings with the management of PJSC “Zhydachivskyi TsPK” and specialists of other enterprises. It was agreed that the “Zhydachiv TsPK” will supply water daily to feed the lake. It is about 3-4 hours a day.
During the meetings, they also decided to look for other sources of feeding the lake, in particular, the use of rainwater from the city streets.
“We plan to carry out certain technical works in July-August. I instructed the communal services within a month to study the issue of setting up a well to supply the lake with water, to consider the issue of the use of flood waters,” said Zhydachev Mayor Volodymyr Levko.
He also instructed the city’s production department of the communal economy to carry out work on the improvement of the territory adjacent to the Promin lake, to install additional benches for the rest of the citizens and guests; of the Department of Economic Development and Investments – to develop a program for the creation of a recreation area (hydropark) on the adjacent territory by the end of August.
