Winter is always a difficult period for street animals. Municipal services of the city, as well as condominiums, make sure that cats have a place to warm up – for this, they leave special slits-passages in the basement windows.
At the same time, citizens are urged to help the furry ones if possible, by placing them in a family, or to equip insulated booths.
“According to the animal welfare organization UAnimals, due to frost and cold, a dog can die in 15 hours, and a cat – in 6. What can we do to help four-legged friends to survive? – Let it warm up. Our utilities leave special slits in the basement windows so cats can easily enter and exit the basement. And the residents can make a warm shelter by themselves: make a small booth from improvised materials and insulate it with old clothes.
If you can, find a new home for the furry one and give it a family and love. After all, it depends only on us how the animals will survive this winter, in the conditions of energy terrorism”, – urged the mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovy.
Experts also advise bringing warm food and water to street animals, because this way it will cool down longer and not freeze.
