For many years in a row, plastuns have been participating in the traditional ceremony of passing the Bethlehem Flame of Peace. Today, representatives of the branch of Plast in Lviv handed over the Bethlehem flame of peace to the mayor of Lviv, Andrii Sadovoy, his deputies, deputies and military personnel.
“Usually we come here with good, good news that the greatest Christian holiday, Christmas, will soon come to our homes. But today we have to start with a sad one – now in Ivano-Frankivsk they are saying goodbye to the head of the local branch of Plast, who died in the war. He became the 20th soldier who gave his life defending Ukraine. Our defenders die for the values of this Bethlehem fire. This fire symbolizes peace, love and goodness, and these people are fighting to return peace, love and goodness to all Ukrainian homes,” said Yaroslav Bulyshyn, head of the Plast branch in Lviv.
Plastuns received the fire yesterday simultaneously from Polish and Slovak scouts and today, through the mayor of Lviv, they handed it over to the city community.
“I have the honor to receive the Bethlehem flame of peace every year for the community of Lviv. This year’s fire is special because we are hosting it with our military from the 80th and 125th brigades. Today we are all here as one big family.
This fire has always carried and carries hope, faith in our victory, which we all so expect, to which we so strongly strive. Thank you so much Plastun for the fact that you, regardless of everything, preserve the tradition and carry the flame of peace for all Ukrainians. Yes, it is difficult now, our soldiers are dying, but Ukraine was, is and always will be. We are a free people who live in a free country and will not give our land to anyone,” said Andriy Sadovy, the mayor of Lviv.
