In Lviv, 230 student-volunteers who helped the armed forces and displaced persons were awarded

In the Lviv City Hall, 230 students were awarded, who, since the beginning of the full-scale war, volunteered for the benefit of the Armed Forces or internally displaced Ukrainians. They devoted a lot of effort and time to volunteering, so the city education department decided to thank them for their contribution to Ukraine’s victory.

“Today we celebrate the students of our schools who have shown themselves in the field of volunteering. These are the students who, since the beginning of the full-scale war, not only studied, but also devoted a lot of time to volunteer activities. Some of them were weaving nets, some were making dumplings, and some were selling toys. Since last week we celebrated the International Day of Peace, that is precisely why we now decided to celebrate our active children on behalf of the city,” said Andriy Zakaliuk, head of the Lviv Education Department.

The schoolchildren received commemorative awards, they will be introduced to the mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadov and his feline assistant Levchyk.

“Very often, children’s desire to volunteer is a shock for parents. Because adults know that you can help with money, part of the salary. And children are creative and find non-standard solutions. Even my son was a peak palyanitsa, desserts that he sold just on the street, near the house. A lot of children in our city do the same and join our victory in various ways. Today, everyone must contribute to our common victory,” the mayor of Lviv emphasized.

Soldiers of the 125th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine joined in awarding the children.

“Help and support for children is very important and we feel it. We feel it when we use the nets woven by them, when we receive their letters or drawings. It extremely supports, inspires, and warms us. We understand that we are not serving in vain, and we know for whom we are getting help,” said Bohdan Ben, an officer of the 125th brigade.

Yustina Lebed, a student of the 4th grade of the lyceum, was one of the awardees. I. Pulyuya. The girl created drawings for the military, and sold bracelets created by herself, and gave the proceeds to the needs of the Armed Forces.

“My mother suggested that I take part in the “Flower Children” fair. I called all my girlfriends, shared this idea, and we started preparing for the fair. For 20 days, we drew pictures, wove bracelets, and made cakes. At the fair, we managed to collect 5,668 hryvnias. I liked volunteering, I will do it again,” Yustyna shared.

Children engaged in volunteering in various ways: weaving nets, loading humanitarian aid, selling sweets, singing, etc. The sums of fees were also very diverse – from 500 hryvnias to 600 thousand hryvnias!
