Company commander Mykola Ozerov (call sign “Crimea”) and machine gunner Vladyslav Stasiv (call sign “Dynamo”) were killed during the assault on the settlement of Yampil in Donetsk region.
In honor of the commander and comrades who died in battle, servicemen of the 65th battalion of the 103rd brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hung the Ukrainian flag over Yampol, which was liberated from the occupiers.
Mykola Ozerov, Lieutenant-Colonel Cavalier of the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, personally led his company on the first assault on Yampol and died as a result of a serious injury, saving his comrade. The company’s machine gunner, 23-year-old Vladyslav Stasiv, was killed by a sniper’s bullet.
During the liberation of Yampol, the comrades in honor of the heroes hung a yellow-blue flag on the highest point of the village so that it reminded of the fallen soldiers.
Fighters of the battalion speak of their comrades with great respect
“Since the beginning of the full-scale offensive of the Russians, the commander and I have gone through many battles in different regions of the country. He was a wonderful person, a very intelligent commander who could be followed into battle. This is a very big loss for me. I knew him very well. He taught me a lot. And I used these skills in battle. Including in honor of the memory of “Crimea”, – military serviceman “Mike” remembers his commander.
Recently, the defenders received awards for liberating Ukrainian lands from the occupiers. The commander of the brigade, Colonel Valery Kurko, presented the servicemen with the awards of the head of the regional administration of the Western Defense Forces. The fighters dedicated the awards to their comrades who gave their lives for the common victory.
And the blue-yellow flag, dedicated to the Heroes, continues to fly over the liberated Yampol, as a symbol of the sacrifice and feat of the Ukrainian defenders!
