More than 70 children with cancer were sent to Poland from Lviv

Employees of the municipal institution of the Lviv Regional Council “Western Ukrainian Specialized Children’s Medical Center” reported that more than 70 Ukrainian children with cancer were taken for treatment in the Republic of Poland.

“This is the third trip of seriously ill children for further treatment abroad in the last week. Most of the patients of this humanitarian convoy were evacuated from the regions of Ukraine where active hostilities are taking place – from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Odessa, Mykolayiv. Currently, children are going to clinics in Rzeszow, Warsaw and Krakow. Then, depending on the condition and needs of patients, they will be received by medical institutions of other countries – Italy, France, Germany, etc., “- said Lviv doctors.

The staff of the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children’s Medical Center tirelessly receives newly arrived children from different regions. In Lviv, patients are examined, provided with the necessary medical care, documents are restored, documents are translated into different languages ​​and sent abroad for treatment. Polish doctors initiated the transportation of Ukrainian children together with their mothers or grandmothers. With relatives, in the family circle, children will feel at ease. “Children with cancer are now fighting a double battle – with war and disease,” – say doctors.

For the evacuation of young patients in serious condition, the Lviv Regional Council’s Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Care and Disaster Medicine has provided medical vehicles, as well as medical support to the border.

Doctors thank the staff of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv and personally Consul Rafał Kotzot for their constant assistance, as well as all those who help young patients and take care of their safety.
