The Maltese aid service launched the campaign “Saint Nicholas – children in need”. Its goal is to give the joy of the holiday to children growing up without parents and children with disabilities. Every year, such children write a letter to the Miracle Worker with hope, and it is thanks to benefactors that their wishes come true.
For the 26th year in a row, the Maltese Aid Service is holding the traditional action “Saint Nicholas – Children in Need”. Every year, this initiative manages to reach several thousand children. This includes, in particular, pupils of orphanages and boarding schools, as well as children with disabilities.
According to tradition, children write a letter to St. Nicholas in advance. These requests are then analyzed by benefactors (helpers of the Miracle Worker) and help to turn them into reality. Ready-made gifts are taken to the office of the Malta Service (it serves as the residence of Nicholas for a month). And already on the eve of December 19, volunteers visit children and hand them holiday packages.
“With this campaign, we aim to show that one should never lose faith in miracles, and thanks to the good name of the Miracle Worker, each of us can make everyone around us happy by giving a piece of our warmth,” says Victoria Korinchuk, manager of the campaign from the Maltese Aid Service .
