During the first half of 2026, UAH 33.96 million in tourist tax was paid into local budgets in the Lviv region. This is more than UAH 7.3 million, or 28%, higher than in the same period last year, according to the Director of the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Roman Khim’yak.
The largest revenues from the tourist tax were generated by the Lviv, Skhidnytsia, Truskavets, Slavske and Sokilnyky communities. In particular, the Skhidnytsia community received UAH 4,821,189.07, the Truskavets community UAH 4,814,033.28, the Slavske community UAH 540,913.31, and the Sokilnyky community UAH 446,742.19. For the Lviv community, only the amount in hryvnias is indicated, without complete data.
At the monthly digest of tourism news, statistics on visits to the region’s tourist attractions were also presented. The most popular destination was the Skole Beskids National Nature Park, which was visited by more than 90,000 people over the half-year. The top three also included the Tustan Historical and Cultural Reserve (over 70,000 visitors) and the Drohobychchyna Museum (over 22,000 visitors).
A separate part of the meeting was devoted to the development of veteran tourism. As part of the “Therapy through Travel” project, 18 trips were organised in the first half of the year for male and female defenders and members of their families, with 520 people taking part. Participants climbed Hoverla and Makivka, went rafting on the Stryi and Styr rivers, took part in horse-riding trips, and visited natural, historical and cultural sites in the Lviv region, including the Tustan and Nahuievychi reserves, the UPA bunker museum, PARK3020, an oceanarium, a banana farm, lavender fields and other attractions.
In the first half of the year, the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism also took part in a number of nationwide and international tourism forums and conferences, worked on developing the Ukrainian branch of the Way of St James, the Camino Ruteno, and opened a new cycling route, “VeloPidkova”, which links the Zolochiv, Pidhirtsi and Olesko castles.
During the digest, representatives of Gorgany announced the extension of their partnership with the department under the “Therapy through Travel” project. The company is implementing the GorganyCAMP programme, aimed at the physical and psychological recovery of veterans through multi-day mountain hikes. This year, three GorganyCAMPS are planned as part of the cooperation: 24–26 July — a route to the Solotvynka meadow, 7–8 August — a trek along the Verkhovyna Watershed Ridge, and in September — a hike to Mount Parashka.
The organisers stress that the development of the tourism sector, support for active leisure and the creation of new tourism products contribute to the economic growth of communities, the promotion of the Lviv region, and high-quality rehabilitation for Ukrainian male and female defenders.
