Two Soviet-era monuments were decommunized in Chervonohrad Oblast

On May 9, as part of a working trip to the Chervonograd district, representatives of the regional working group on decommunization held an on-site meeting with the participation of employees of the Chervonograd RVA, where they discussed the road map of the decommunization process in the district.

“Ukrainians who died in the Second World War should be honored with a prayer. They cannot stand in the same row with the “Alyoshas” and “Vanyushkas” who came to kill and occupy our land,” stressed Anton Petrivskyi, a member of the regional working group on decommunization, military officer of the ZSU, who joined the meeting online.

After the meeting, representatives of the working group, together with representatives of local authorities, decommunized two Soviet-era monuments. A monument to a soldier of the Soviet army and a worker fell in the village of Sushno of the Radekhiv community. In the village of Novy Vytkiv, the stele of glory of the Soviet army was dismantled.

“Chervonograd region is one of those districts with the largest number of objects subject to decommunization. Today, together with the communities, all challenges and problematic points were discussed. Worked out road maps for each facility. We received assurances from the communities that very soon a real monument fall will begin here!”, said the acting deputy. Director of the Department of Communications and Internal Policy of the Lviv Regional Government Yuriy Horun.

As a reminder, dozens of symbols of the Soviet regime have already been toppled in the Lviv region as part of the decommunization process. By the end of this calendar year, they plan to complete the process of decommunization.
