In 2023, the Sokal City Council of the Lviv Oblast participated in the selection of projects under the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine Program 2021-2027 under the Environment priority.
According to the results of the selection, it became one of the winners and will receive funding for the project “Protection of the Bug River by expanding the sanitary network in the border communes of Dolhobyczów and Sokal”.

The project envisages laying a pressure sewer along the existing route from the sewage treatment plant-2 on Zamkova Nyzhnia Street to the Sokal treatment plant, 3.384 km long. Implementation of the project will ensure the stability of the city’s centralized sewage system, eliminate the risk of gusts, reduce operating costs, and ensure environmental protection.
