Romchyk Olesiv, a 7-year-old resident of Lviv, received severe burns on 45% of his body surface during an airstrike in Vinnytsia on July 14.
His mother Halyna died while waiting for a doctor’s appointment at the Neuromed clinic. The boy was stabilized in Vinnytsia and Lviv hospitals and has already been transported for further treatment abroad.
Romchik is 7 years old. He is from Lviv. In July, the boy and his mother went to visit his grandparents in Vinnytsia. There, they made an appointment for a consultation with a doctor at a local clinic on July 14.
Yaroslav’s father stayed in Lviv. On that tragic day, around 11 o’clock, the connection with his son and wife disappeared. The whole country learned that a rocket attack had been carried out on Vinnytsia.
Roma’s father found him in the Vinnytsia Regional Hospital and only three days ago he learned about the death of his 29-year-old wife Halyna, based on the results of a DNA examination.
The boy is now in a very serious condition. About 45% of the child’s body was covered by external burns, another 35% – internal. They are so deep that in some places they even reach the bones. Burned face, upper and lower limbs, respiratory tract. In addition, Roma has a closed fracture of the left arm and several shrapnel from a shell in the skull.
The little patient was transported to Lviv, and then the child was evacuated to Germany. A number of interventions await Romchyk, including a skin transplant and plastic surgery.
“Unfortunately, Lviv doctors now have to accept very difficult patients. For about five months of the war, our specialists have already provided assistance to 5,000 victims with the most complex war injuries. Among them there are many children with mine-explosive and shrapnel injuries, amputated limbs and severe burns,” the First TMO reported.
We will remind you that Lviv is working every day on the creation of the National Rehabilitation Center of Ukraine in order to save Ukrainians in Ukraine.
The National Rehabilitation Center “UNBROKEN” will be the first center in Ukraine where 50,000 Ukrainians will be able to receive physical, psychological and social rehabilitation every year. The patient will not only receive a prosthesis here, but will also successfully return to a full life.
