
On 11 June, a city farewell ceremony will be held in Lviv for servicemen Oleh Malysh and Ihor Manyshyn, who were killed defending Ukraine from the Russian occupiers. The city authorities call on Lviv residents and visitors to join the farewell and to refrain at this time from entertainment events and celebrations.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. At approximately 11:30, a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.
Oleh Malysh will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery, in the Field of Honourable Burials No. 87 on Pasichna Street. Ihor Manyshyn will be laid to rest at Holosko Cemetery, in Field No. 34-V.
Oleh Malysh
Oleh Malysh (05.09.1986 — 07.09.2025) was a Lviv native. He studied at Secondary Comprehensive School No. 42 in Lviv and later qualified as a heating engineer at the Separate Structural Subdivision “Technical and Economic Vocational College of Lviv Polytechnic National University”. He completed compulsory military service.
After his service, he worked in the installation and maintenance of air conditioning systems at private enterprises. According to his family, Oleh was hardworking, brave and courageous, distinguished by his kindness, sincerity, care and sociability, had a positive outlook on life, loved to tinker and was passionate about cars.
In 2025, he took up arms to defend the Motherland from the invasion of the Russian occupiers. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the Donetsk sector as part of the 3rd Border Detachment named after Hero of Ukraine Colonel Yevhenii Pikus of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Oleh Malysh is survived by his parents, brother, sister, nieces and nephews, his beloved girlfriend and family.
Ihor Manyshyn
Ihor Manyshyn (27.05.1974 — 11.11.2025) was a Lviv native. He studied at the Hrono Lyceum of the Lviv City Council, as well as at Vocational School No. 31 in Lviv (now the Lviv Vocational College of the Beauty and Fashion Industry). He worked as a footwear maker at private enterprises.
His family remember Ihor as a kind, sensitive and compassionate person who was always ready to help and support others, distinguished by his sincerity, humanity and caring attitude towards his loved ones.
In 2025, he took up arms to defend Ukraine from the Russian invasion. He served in the Dnipropetrovsk sector as part of the 7th Border Carpathian Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the 67th Separate Mechanised Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ihor Manyshyn is survived by his mother, brother and nieces and nephews.
