
On Tuesday, 7 July, a city farewell ceremony will be held in Lviv for servicemen Dmytro Voskoboinikov and Oleksandr Romanov, who were killed defending Ukraine from the Russian occupiers. The city authorities call on Lviv residents and visitors to join in honouring the memory of the defenders and to refrain at this time from entertainment events and celebrations.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. At approximately 11:30, a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. Afterwards, the soldiers will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery, in the Field of Honourable Burials No. 87 on Pasichna Street.
Dmytro Voskoboinikov (30.04.1985 — 16.12.2024) was a Lviv native. He studied at Secondary Comprehensive School No. 42 in Lviv and worked as a car mechanic at a service station. His family remember him as a kind, responsible, courageous and determined person, distinguished by his sincerity and readiness to help others. He was a loving and caring father who enjoyed fishing, hunting and cars.
In 2024, Dmytro took up arms to defend Ukraine from the Russian invasion. He served in the Donetsk sector with the 59th Separate Assault Brigade of Unmanned Systems named after Yakiv Handziuk of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, defending the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state. He is survived by his wife, daughter and brother.
Oleksandr Romanov (01.01.1968 — 03.10.2024) was originally from Kherson. He studied at the municipal institution “Skhidnenskyi Lyceum” of the Muzykivka Village Council of Kherson District of Kherson Region, and later continued his education at the Kherson Educational and Scientific Institute of the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding. He completed compulsory military service and worked as a stevedore at the state enterprise “Kherson Sea Commercial Port”.
According to his family, Oleksandr was kind, family-oriented, sociable and cheerful, while also serious and hard-working. He loved football, was interested in boxing, fishing and heavy music, and was a caring husband and father.
In 2024, he too took up arms to defend the Motherland from the Russian occupiers. He served in the Kherson and Donetsk sectors with the 123rd Separate Territorial Defence Brigade of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, defending the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Oleksandr Romanov is survived by his wife, daughter, son, mother and sister.
