Funeral of Iryna Farion: several thousand people gathered at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv

Today Lviv said goodbye to philologist and professional intellectual Iryna Farion. Thousands of people came to pay tribute to the deceased: relatives, colleagues, friends, fellow party members and supporters from different cities of Ukraine. Ms Farion is survived by her daughter Sofia and two grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. Afterwards, a city farewell ceremony was held on Rynok Square. Then the procession went to the Lychakiv Cemetery. Iryna Farion was buried in field 22, not far from the grave of Volodymyr Ivasyuk.

A few hours after the attack, Iryna Farion died in hospital. Almost the entire police force of Lviv and part of the police force of Lviv region are involved in the investigation of the murder. The perpetrator of the crime is still being sought.
