The border guard from Chervonohrad Oblast was awarded the Order “For Courage” III degree (posthumously)

The defender’s daughter and wife received the award.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine, for personal courage and heroism shown in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, Ihor Vesniya, a border guard and a resident of the Velikomostov community of the Chervonograd district, was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree (posthumously).

Yesterday, August 7, the defender’s family, daughter Marta Vesniy and wife Halyna Vesniy received the award.

This was reported in the Chervonograd RVA.

Igor Vesniy was mobilized at the beginning of a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine. He served in the Canine Training Center of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, then performed a combat mission as part of the 4th Department of Inspectors of the Border Guard Service “Stanytsia Luhansk”. On April 16, 2022, he died in heavy battles with the enemy near the settlement of Nove. The defender’s body could not be taken away for a long time.

Only on October 4, 2022, information was received that two mass graves were excavated in the settlement of Nove, and the bodies were sent to the Dnipro morgue. The body of Ihor Vesniy was also identified among the dead servicemen.

“Ihor was a member of the anti-terrorist operation, and when the offensive of Russian troops began on February 24, 2022, he said that he could not stand aside, it was his duty to protect Ukraine,” recalls his wife Galina.

The award was presented to the family of the deceased by the head of the Chervonograd RVA Andriy Dyachenko together with the deputy head of the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment Pyotr Zhovnych and the deputy head of the “Nismichi” border service department, Major Igor Zhmida.

“I know that no words can ease the grief of the family, because the loss of a husband and father is an indescribable pain that remains forever. It hurts to see how children receive the awards of deceased parents. For us, he will forever remain a Hero who gave the most valuable thing for Ukraine – his life. Eternal honor to the Warrior,” Andriy Dyachenko noted.
