Tomorrow, January 11, Lviv will honor the memory of serviceman Roman Petryk, who gave his life defending Ukraine from Russian aggression. The city authorities urge residents and visitors to join the farewell ceremony and refrain from festive activities during this time.
The farewell will begin at 9:45 AM at the Church of the Ascension of the Lord (81 Shyroka Street).
At 11:00 AM, a funeral service will take place at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul. A city-wide farewell ceremony will follow on Rynok Square at approximately 11:30 AM.
Roman Petryk will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.
Biography of Roman Petryk
Roman Petryk (October 22, 1970 – July 20, 2024) was born in the village of Oselya, Lviv Region.
- He studied at the Oselya Gymnasium of the Yavoriv City Council and trained as a driver-mechanic at the Sudova Vyshnia Vocational School.
- He completed military service in Khmelnytskyi.
- Roman worked at the “Raida” Production Enterprise and later as an ambulance driver. Before the war, he was employed at Epicenter K.
- In his free time, he enjoyed working with cars and solving crosswords.
After Russia’s full-scale invasion, Roman joined the 5th Separate Rifle Battalion of the 118th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He served on the Zaporizhzhia frontline.
Roman is survived by five sisters and eight brothers.
