Lviv will say goodbye to defenders Vadym Pavliuk, Pavlo Bykov and Andriy Koloda on Monday

On 19 February, the Lviv community will say goodbye to Vadym Pavliuk, Pavlo Bykov and Andriy Koloda, who died defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service for Vadym Pavliuk will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of the Ascension, 81a Shyroka Street.

The funeral service for the defenders Vadym Pavliuk, Pavlo Bykov and Andriy Koloda will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul in Lviv (11 Teatralna St.), at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. The defenders will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

Biographical information about the defenders
Andriy Koloda (19.06.1979-11.02.2024). A native of the village of Kosivets, Lviv region.

He studied at a local secondary school. He graduated from the municipal institution of the Lviv Regional Council “Lviv Music Professional College named after Stanislav Liudkevych”. He was engaged in playing the saxophone.

After graduation, he served in the National Guard of Ukraine in Simferopol. He worked at Lvivgaz Gas Distribution System Operator Joint Stock Company and in the furniture industry.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he voluntarily defended his homeland from the occupiers. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state in Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia regions as part of the 3rd Operational Brigade named after Colonel Petro Bolbochan of the Eastern Operational and Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Andrii Koloda is survived by his parents, wife, two sons and a sister.

He studied at the former secondary school Nº64 of I-III levels in Lviv. He graduated from the then Lviv College of Radio Electronics. After graduation, he served in the military.

During the last period, he worked at Halychpharm Joint Stock Company.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the 24th separate mechanised brigade named after King Danylo of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his homeland. He heroically performed combat missions in the eastern direction.

Vadym Pavliuk is survived by his mother.

He studied at the Lyceum “Intellect” of the Lviv City Council. He graduated from the Lviv Technical School of Mechanical Wood Processing (now a separate structural subdivision of the Technological Professional College of the National Forestry University of Ukraine).

In 1999, he entered the military service in the 95th separate Polissya Air Assault Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was fond of football and took an active part in various competitions. He was a loving son, brother and father.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he could not stand aside and volunteered to join the 125th separate territorial defence brigade of the Regional Directorate “West” of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He performed combat missions to deter Russian aggression in the Kharkiv region, and later in the Donetsk region.

Pavlo Bykov is survived by his mother, wife, daughter, sister and nephews.
