Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to four Heroes who defended Ukraine

On Thursday, June 29, Lviv will say goodbye to four Heroes. Petro Huk, Ilona Orlova, Volodymyr Trish, Yuriy Moskal defended Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremonies and refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral of Peter Huk and Ilona Orlova will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

The funeral of Volodymyr Trish and Yuriy Moskal will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 2:30 p.m. a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

Heroes will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of Heroes

 

Petro Huk (July 9, 1973-July 29, 2022) from Lviv.

He studied at Lyceum No. 2 of the Lviv City Council, later at the Lviv Polytechnic National University. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Law of the Mariupol State University, obtained a master’s degree in enterprise security.

Participant of the Revolution of Dignity. In 2014, after leaving everything, he and his friends moved to Mariupol to join the ranks of the newly formed “Azov” regiment. For personal bravery, he was awarded the “Defender of Mariupol” commemorative sign and the award of the President of Ukraine “For participation in an anti-terrorist operation.”

In 2015, during a combat mission, he received a serious injury, so he worked as a military sapper in the regiment, and later joined the engineering support department.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he continued to serve under a contract as part of the regiment. Together with his comrades, he defended the metallurgical plant “Azovstal”. Died at the hands of the occupiers during a terrorist act in Olenivka. Half a year before the invasion, Peter Huk’s mother died.

The Hero is survived by his own brother and nephews.

 

Ilona Orlova (February 17, 1993-June 25, 2023) was born in the village of Zhovchiv (Ivano-Frankivsk region).

She studied at the Kaluska Lyceum No. 5 of the Kalusa City Council of the Ivano-Frankivsk Region, later she entered the Secondary Comprehensive School of Levels I-III No. 48 in the city of Lviv. She graduated from Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Halytskyi. She completed an internship in the capital.

In peacetime, she worked as a family doctor in the urban-type village of Drabiv, Cherkasy region. She was fond of tourism, adored cats.

Senior lieutenant of the medical service. In December 2019, she voluntarily joined the ranks of the 2nd Separate Galician Brigade of the Western Operational Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine. Later she served in Vinnytsia.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Chervona Kalina performed tasks in the “hot spots” of the front in the ranks of the 14th brigade of the National Guard.

Ilona Orlova is survived by her parents, brother and aunts and their families.

 

Volodymyr Trish (15.09.1990-25.06.2023) native of Lviv.

Studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 64 of the city of Lviv. In 2008, he graduated from the Higher Vocational School No. 20 of the city of Lviv, later – the Ukrainian Academy of Printing.

Participant of the Revolution of Dignity, in 2014 he joined the ranks of “Right Sector”. Performed combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation area as part of the 5th separate battalion of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps “Right Sector”. Then he joined the “Harpoon” special purpose patrol police unit.

He constantly studied military affairs: he was trained at the base of the 197th center for sergeant training of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in 2020 he obtained the qualification of “Instructor of the first level of the Armed Forces of Ukraine” and graduated from the Military College of Sergeant Forces of the National Academy of the Land Forces named after Hetman Peter Sagaidachny. He was awarded numerous awards for his patriotism and loyalty to the service.

In his spare time, he voiced anime and series in Ukrainian, loved computer games and was an avid collector. During 2021-2022, he was part of the 18th separate helicopter detachment of the Armed Forces of the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he completed his military service as a unit commander in the A4002 military unit, performing tasks in the eastern direction of the front.

The Hero is survived by his parents, wife, two daughters, sisters and godchildren.

 

Yuriy Moskal (17.08.1984-20.06.2023) from Lviv.

Studied at Lviv secondary comprehensive school No. 33. He received his education at the Higher Vocational and Technical School No. 48 of the city of Lviv (today – the State Vocational and Technical Educational Institution “Lviv Higher Vocational School of Computer Technologies and Construction”).

After completing his studies, he completed military service and was part of the peacekeeping contingent in Iraq.

In peacetime, he worked at the Lviv representative office of Onur Construction International Limited Liability Company and at a local construction site.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation voluntarily came to the defense of the Motherland. He fought against the Russian invaders in the eastern direction in the ranks of the 42nd separate mechanized brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
