Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to three defenders

On Tuesday, 25 February, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Andriy-Nazar Romaniuk, Bohdan Yavorskyi and Oleksandr Doroshenko, who defended Ukraine from Russian invaders.

The funeral service for the defenders will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Peter and Paul. Afterwards, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a citywide farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

The defenders will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

Oleksandr Doroshenko (04.03.1977-05.02.2025) was a resident of Lviv.

He studied at the Specialised Secondary School No. 11 with in-depth study of natural sciences and humanities (today – Lviv Law Gymnasium). He graduated from the Lviv Professional College of Transport Infrastructure of Lviv Polytechnic National University.

After graduation, he served in the military in Zakarpattia. He worked in the woodworking industry. In his free time, he loved to do crafts.

After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the ranks of the 14th separate mechanised brigade named after Prince Roman of the Great Operational Command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the state from Russian invaders. He performed tasks in the Kharkiv direction.

Oleksandr Doroshenko is survived by his mother and daughter.

Andrii Nazar Romaniuk (13.11.2001-21.11.2023) was a resident of Lviv.

In 2008-2017 he studied at the Secondary School No. 42 in Lviv. Lviv, then entered the Lviv Vocational College of Hotel, Tourism and Restaurant Services, where he received the profession of waiter-bartender.

In 2021, he voluntarily joined the National Guard of Ukraine. According to his family, he was an extremely kind, motivated and compassionate person, and had a wide circle of friends.

He defended the state from the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation: first, he served as an assistant grenade launcher of the 2nd Battalion, and during the last period he performed combat missions as a scout-radio operator of the 15th Operational Brigade named after the Hero of Ukraine Lieutenant Bohdan Zavada of the Southern Operational and Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine. On 21 November 2023, Andrii Nazar Romaniuk’s family lost contact with him.

The Hero is survived by his mother, godparents, friends and comrades-in-arms.

Bohdan Yavorskyi (12.07.1965-15.04.2024) was a resident of Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school №62. He graduated from the National Forestry University of Ukraine. Since his student days, he has been involved in human rights activities and was a member of the Ukrainian office of Amnesty International. He was engaged in entrepreneurial activities, and most recently held the position of head of the paper products warehouse at Servisoptorg Limited Liability Company. He was fluent in several foreign languages and loved travelling.

Since 2014, he has been actively involved in volunteer work, and later performed combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation zone as part of the Azov Regiment.

After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he defended the state in the ranks of the 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov” of the National Guard of Ukraine. He took part in the defence of Azovstal.

Bohdan Yavorsky is survived by two daughters, a grandson and a sister.
