Residents of a potential radiation accident zone should be prepared for a possible evacuation. If authorities have officially announced a radiation emergency, stay indoors or get out as soon as possible. Stay tuned for further announcements and follow the instructions from the authorities.
In case you are advised to evacuate, pack in your suitcase or backpack:
Documents and their copies (identity documents, medical documents, legal documents certifying ownership of movable and immovable property, contacts of persons who can be contacted in case of emergency).
Face mask or respirator. A first-aid kit and a week’s supply of medicines (if you have chronic diseases).
Wet wipes.
A change of clothes and shoes.
A minimum supply of water and food is required. Tightly wrap the suitcase or backpack with cling film or tape. This will greatly facilitate the process of their decontamination at sanitary posts.
If you are in the zone of a radiation accident, you can leave the buildings only after the relevant instructions of the authorities. Local authorities will inform you of the location of evacuation points, as well as the safest travel routes if you are evacuating in your own vehicle. Follow the instructions and stay calm.
