The Supported Living House for people with disabilities has opened on 39 Pasichna Street in Lviv. The first residents are four young people who are able to live there for free, receiving meals and help with daily activities. This provides their families with an opportunity to take a break from caregiving.
Zoreslava Liulchak, the head of the “Dzherelo” centre, notes that the house can accommodate up to 20 people, including community residents and internally displaced persons. It is staffed by 10 people, including social workers, medical staff, and a psychologist.
The space of the house is divided into three floors: a common area, kitchen, relaxation zones, living rooms, and a rooftop terrace. All facilities ensure accessibility and safety.
Andriy Sadovyi, the Mayor of Lviv, stressed the importance of such a facility, capable of providing an alternative to traditional institutions, which needs to be scaled across the country.
Yuliia Aronova, the head of the supported living department, emphasised the significance of temporary respite services for families caring for people with disabilities. It allows family members to recharge and attend to personal matters while the residents have the opportunity to socialise and develop.
