Rescuers recorded the same high rate in 2023.
Since the beginning of 2024, 274 cases of fires with a total area of 42.2 hectares have been recorded in the ecosystems of the region, including dry grass, shrubs, reeds – 21 hectares, peat – 17 hectares, forest litter – 4.2 hectares.
Last year, 2023, 311 fires in ecosystems were recorded in the Lviv region during the same period, which is 37 more than in the current year.
“Spring, despite its beauty, warming, the beginning of field work, is a favorable time for increasing fires in ecosystems. So be aware, follow the rules of safety measures, if necessary, immediately call the rescuers on the phone number 101”, – said the department for civil protection.
Residents of Lviv region, in order to avoid fires in ecosystems, do not make bonfires, do not throw cigarette butts, do not leave garbage and glass, conduct educational work with children and the elderly.
“Fire destroys buildings and structures, trees and animals, people are maimed and killed. Taking into account the statistics, the cause of 90% of fires is a person who is careless with fire. Also, the fire danger in ecosystems is increased due to Russian military aggression,” said the director of the department Igor Tuz.
