For trees on the territory of the future transport hub at the intersection of St. Bandera – Chuprinka, they mounted the trunk grilles.
At the end of January, 11 Callery Chanteclair pears were planted on this site. At present, trunk gratings have already been installed for these trees, and the installation of ground lamps is in progress.
“It’s not just a decorative lattice, it’s a whole engineering structure that was foreseen when planting trees. For this purpose, soil was selected at a depth of 1 m, drainage and concrete rings were made, the soil was filled in, and when trees were planted, they were covered with bark mulch to protect the roots from low temperatures,” explains ecologist and director of LMDENC Ihor Antakhovich.
Grids of this size are installed for the first time in Lviv: diameter – 1.5 m, weight – about 100 kg. Thanks to this size, the tree will have a normal amount of soil for root development and respiration.
“Trunk trellises perform several functions, firstly, they are decorative – the trellis looks good, the built-in lights will emphasize the narrow-conical shape of the tree, and secondly, they are protective – the trellis protects the tree from being trampled,” says Ihor Antakhovich.
It is expected that at the end of April – beginning of May, these trees will bloom and delight the residents with their beauty.
