In Lviv region, government representatives, religious organizations, leaders of the Jewish community, and public activists gathered to remember the victims of the Holocaust, those who were innocently murdered simply for being Jewish.
The participation in a communal prayer took place outdoors, after which people honored the memory of the deceased by laying flowers and lighting candles at the Memorial of the Lviv Jewish ghetto on V’acheslava Chornovola Avenue.
“This tragic page of our history should teach us humanity, tolerance, and the importance of protecting the rights of every individual. The horror of the Holocaust reminds us that hatred and tyranny can lead to incredible tragedies. Every time we honor the memory of the victims, we must remember the heavy price society pays for hatred and injustice,” stated Ivan Sobko, Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
The tragic symbol of the Holocaust, the Auschwitz concentration camp near Polish Oswiecim, as well as Babyn Yar in Kyiv, remind the world of the crimes against humanity committed during wartime.
We remember🕯️.
