Protective forest plantations of the railway are plantations that protect the ground bed from soil erosion, the track from being swept by snow and soil during blizzards and windy elements, and prevent technogenic influence on the natural environment adjacent to the track, reduce noise loads and absorb harmful gases, dust, substances, and in accordance with Art. 4 of the Forest Code of Ukraine, protective forest plantations belong to the forest fund.
According to the information of the regional branch of “Lviv Railway” of JSC “Ukrainian Railway”, during the last years, cases of arbitrary cutting of trees were recorded in the protective plantations of the railway.
All discovered facts of illegal activity are sent to the relevant police departments for investigation. We note that a person who illegally cuts down trees or shrubs in forests, protective and other forest plantations is considered an offender; transportation, storage, sale of illegally cut trees or shrubs.
The offender who has carried out illegal felling of trees shall pay the amount of damage caused to the forest and an administrative fine, criminal liability is also possible.
In view of the above, we ask all residents of the region to protect nature, in particular protective forest plantations, because their destruction causes irreparable damage to society
