For the eighth year in a row, in December and January, in trams and trolleybuses, in addition to announcements about the route, you can hear carols, carols, and Christmas songs.
This year, fragments of more than twenty compositions will be heard from the Honored Academic Orchestra of Ukraine, the Exemplary Demonstration Orchestra of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the orchestra of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Pyotr Sagaidachny, and the orchestra of the Lviv State University of Life Safety.
The goal of the project is unchanged:
popularization of Ukrainian musical content, and, accordingly, performers, and the tradition of national celebration of New Year’s and Christmas holidays.
moral support for the consolidation of internal spiritual resources of our passengers in such a difficult time.
“Despite the loss of relatives and the fear of new challenges, we want to remember what unites us, to remind us of the Christian values and hope that these holidays give us.
The season of carols 2022-2023 is special and unique. Thanks to the understanding and incredible human qualities (especially the speed of response in extreme conditions) of the sound operators of the National Academic Ukrainian Drama Theater named after Maria Zankovetska and the full assistance of all, including the employees of the Officers’ House in Lviv (from the chief to the duty officer), despite the “alarms” and the power cut, it was possible to the first audio recording of the orchestra of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Pyotr Sagaidachny.
A short video from the recording will be available on the official pages of Lviv Electrotrans LLC, said Olga Bachynska, spokeswoman of Lviv Electrotrans LLC and the author of the project “Carols, gifts, Christmas songs in Lviv electric transport”.
An important fact is that the project is being carried out for the last time. On October 7, Law 2310-IX, which prohibits “acoustic violence”, entered into force.
“As a native of Lviv, I know about the project and, of course, love carols. However, the law has universal effect and it would be wrong for the state or authorities or local governments to determine what music can and cannot be broadcast. The essence of the law is that passengers have the right to travel in silence. However, if we are talking about trolleybuses and trams, then as far as I understand, this law does not apply to them. Because these are the norms of the law “On Road Transport” and they apply to drivers and cabins of buses (including minibuses) and taxis. Not trolleybuses and trams. However, the government has been instructed to amend the rules of passenger transportation to ban acoustic violence on all types of passenger transport. It is clear that the government will not have time to make such changes before this Christmas. However, in a year, or later, the ban on “acoustic violence” will probably apply to all types of passenger transport,” comments Volodymyr Vyatrovych, the initiator and co-author of Law 2310-IX, which provides for the ban on “acoustic violence”, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the IX convocation.
