In Lviv, the City Museum invites you to a discussion about the modern challenges of childhood

On August 10, at 3:00 p.m., the “Radio Garage” (Knyazya Romana St., 6) will host a presentation of the City Museum project “Safe about Dangerous” and the video series “Go for a walk!”. At the event, together with experts, children’s safety will be discussed: getting to school and clubs independently, traveling without parents, what a child needs to know during an air alert and what adaptation of children in a new city for them will look like.

The City Museum (MuMi) started working on the “Safe about the Dangerous” project last year. The first part of it was a series of videos “Go for a walk!”, which has practical recommendations for parents of children aged 8-12 years.

“This project is a study of the challenges and obstacles that stand in the way of a child’s independent exploration of the city. This is both parental anxiety and objective factors such as active traffic on the road, not always safe infrastructure facilities or simply a large number of people on the streets.

The idea was born during the preparation of the exhibition “Hero’s Journey”. The last week of summer”, which will talk about the peculiarities of childhood in the city and the importance of getting to know the space in which we grow up.

Around this topic, we gathered parents, childhood researchers, psychologists, law enforcement officers, employees of utility companies and the city council, and other experts to determine what we, adults, can do so that children can feel safe on the streets of the city,” says MuMi.

The first series of “Go for a walk!” will be released on Wednesday, August 10 on the City Museum YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYoW8piziEBdfN9Uh503Dlw
