Three outstanding Ukrainian women honoured posthumously in Lviv

In Lviv, as part of the nationwide award “TOP-100 Women of Ukraine” from the media project “Syla Vplyvu” (Power of Influence), three outstanding Ukrainian women were honoured posthumously. This was reported by the Lviv Regional State Administration.

The head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, presented state awards to the relatives of the women who, according to the organisers, left a significant mark on the history of Ukraine.

Among those honoured was Viktoriia Shpylka, a police captain who died at the age of 23 in the line of duty as a result of a terrorist attack in Lviv. The award on her behalf was received by her husband, Maksym Shpylka.

Nina Matviienko, a singer and Hero of Ukraine whose voice, the report notes, is regarded as a symbol of the Ukrainian soul, was also honoured posthumously. The award was received by her daughter, Tonya Matviienko.

The third to be commemorated was Yaryna Bazylevych, a civic activist and manager of the office “Lviv – European Youth Capital 2025”. Her life was cut short on 4 September 2024 by a Russian missile strike on Lviv. The award will be presented to her father, Yaroslav Bazylevych.

“The role of women in our society today is completely different… It is about the presence of women in every aspect of our lives, about strength of spirit, responsibility and the ability to bring people together. Real influence is not measured by the number of awards or positions. It is measured by how much good, strength, inspiration and love a person leaves behind,” noted Maksym Kozytskyi.

The Lviv Regional Military Administration expressed gratitude to Anastasiia Khryshchuk and the media project “Syla Vplyvu” (Power of Influence) for their initiative to preserve the memory of Ukrainian women described as unbreakable.
