The Lviv City Council announced that a working group will be created in Lviv to work with the new owner of the former LAZ territory on Stryiska Street. The goal is to ensure modern production instead of a residential quarter. This decision was supported on February 27 at a meeting of the executive committee of the Lviv City Council.
The First Deputy Mayor Andriy Moskalenko noted that work within the new working group is planned to start next week. It will focus on coordinating the development plan of the territory with an emphasis on innovative production. According to him, there is interest from manufacturers, and it is important to jointly develop concrete solutions.
Mayor Andriy Sadovyi emphasized the importance of involving members of parliament and government representatives in this work. He noted that this could serve as an example for other cities in preserving industrial areas from residential development. Such cooperation could help in developing legislative changes to protect industrial zones at the state level.
It should be recalled that back in 2021, the city determined that the territory of the former LAZ could only be used for production, scientific, educational, or public functions. After the change of ownership in 2024, the future of this site became relevant again, so the city returned to this issue to ensure the territory contributes to the economy rather than disappearing under residential quarters.
