Due to the public indictment of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Court of Appeal left the verdict of the court of first instance unchanged. The last decision found a 37-year-old man from Lviv guilty of intentional homicide (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Prosecutors proved that in September 2019 in Lviv, the convict killed an 82-year-old man in his apartment.
Previously, there was a conflict between the men. In the course of which, the suspect struck the victim about twenty blows with a hammer on the head, after which he fled from the apartment, locking it with a key.
The man’s body was discovered by ZHEK employees and law enforcement officers more than a week after his death.
The lawyers of the Lviv native filed appeals in which they denied the guilt of their client in intentional murder.
However, the court agreed with the arguments of the regional prosecutors and dismissed the defense’s appeals.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of police department No. 1 of Lviv district police department No. 1 of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region.
