A 38-year-old resident of Sambir district was exposed by investigators of the Economic and Official Crime Investigation Department of the Lviv Police Investigation Department jointly with the SBU Office in Lviv region, under the procedural supervision of the Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region.
According to law enforcement officers, in exchange for USD 10 thousand, the offender undertook to organize the illegal transportation of a man of military age across the state border of Ukraine.
To do this, he had to ensure the production of a set of fictitious documents for the “client” on the assignment of a disability group, which made it possible to leave the country under martial law, as well as to transport him across the state border of Ukraine to one of the European countries.
Law enforcement officers detained the offender in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after he received part of the money from the “customer” in the amount of USD 5 thousand.
Investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense stipulated by Part 3 Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the suspect is in custody by court order.
