A 45-year-old resident of Dnipropetrovsk region was informed of suspicion under the procedural guidance of the Yavoriv district prosecutor’s office. He is accused of organizing the illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine (Part 2 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in October 2023, at one of the Lviv Oblast checkpoints, the driver of a vehicle tried to illegally cross the border with conscripted men.
In order to avoid customs control, the person involved instructed the passengers to hide behind the last row of seats of the car. Or move to the luggage compartment through a specially made door to it. Depending on what border guards decide to inspect.
When crossing the border, the suspect gave the border guards false information about the number of passengers in the vehicle.
However, the person involved did not foresee the option of simultaneous inspection by border service officers of both hiding places. In this way, they discovered and detained the fugitives.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the investigators of the Yavoriv District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv Region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
