As law enforcement officers established, in 2022-2023, the director of one of the military forestry companies located in the Lviv region, together with his deputy and shop foreman, using their official position, organized a scheme of illegal felling and theft of wood of various species from forestry lands.
According to experts’ conclusions, the total amount of damages caused to the state as a result of the group’s illegal activities is more than 4.7 million hryvnias.
Police investigators of the Lviv region informed the members of an organized group of the suspicion of committing criminal offenses provided for in part 3 of article 28 – part 2, part 4 of article 246 (Illegal felling or illegal transportation, storage, sale of wood committed by an organized group) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to seven years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
