In the modern Ukrainian internet space, offensive videos featuring images of participants in the educational process are emerging. What is often referred to as a “joke” on social media is actually cyberbullying and can have serious consequences.
Offensive videos, photos, comments, or posts are offences. Anonymity does not exempt one from responsibility, and such actions may result in fines or even criminal liability. If the offender has not reached the legal age, their parents bear the responsibility.
What should you do in the case of cyberbullying? First and foremost, gather evidence such as screenshots or links, report it on social media, inform adults, or contact the police by dialling 102 or 112.
It is important for parents to explain the “digital footprint” rule to their children and check the privacy settings of their profile. A child should know that in the event of online attacks, they can turn to you rather than withdrawing into themselves. Digital hygiene is a test of humanity that we must pass together with our children.
