Under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors of the Drohobytsk District Prosecutor’s Office, the pre-trial investigation was completed and an indictment was sent to the court against the former director of one of the enterprises in the city of Truskavets for the fact of contamination of a plot of land with substances and waste harmful to life, human health and the environment, which led to its deterioration ( Part 2 of Article 239 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that the accused gave instructions to her employees to remove household waste from the company’s activities to a free land plot located in a resort town. As a result, more than 700 square meters of land were contaminated with solid household waste.
It was established that the amount of damages caused by a criminal offense as a result of littering the land plot and soil contamination on it is UAH 67.5 million.
However, thanks to the intervention of law enforcement agencies, the damages in the criminal proceedings were eliminated by removing and disposing of household waste, as well as eliminating the consequences of their impact on the soil.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the JI police department No. 2 of the Drohobytskyi district police department of the Provincial Government of Ukraine in the Lviv region, under the operational support of the Drohobytskyi RU of the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
