Law enforcers have launched a criminal investigation into illegal hunting in Lviv district. The offenders face up to five years in prison.
The police received a report from local residents that the carcasses of two dead wild boars had been found in a field near the forestry of the village of Horbychi.
An investigative team and officers from other services of the Police Department No. 3 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 arrived at the scene.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that the offenders shot five wild boars. The carcasses of three animals were taken with them, and two were left behind.
Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office, opened a criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Article 248 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal hunting). The article provides for a fine of two hundred to four hundred tax-free minimum incomes, or restraint of liberty for up to five years, or imprisonment for the same term.
Law enforcement officers are taking all measures to identify the poachers.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
