On October 16, around 1:00 p.m., the police received a report from a resident of Lviv that her husband had set fire to the house on Temnytskyi Street, where they live together with their two minor children.
Employees of police department No. 1 of Lviv district police department No. 2 and rescuers immediately went to the scene of the incident. Employees of the State Emergency Service localized the fire, no one was injured as a result of the arson.
As the law enforcement officers established, a 41-year-old man from Lviv, being intoxicated, during a conflict with his wife poured gasoline and set fire to their apartment, after which he fled the scene in a car.
After receiving guidance on the vehicle, the employees of the Patrol Police Department soon detained the fugitive on Shirokiy Street and handed it over to the investigators.
He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators under the procedural leadership of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 194 (Intentional destruction or damage to property) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the perpetrator.
