
In Lviv, law enforcement officers have detained a 30-year-old Lviv resident suspected of organising the illegal transfer of a man liable for military service to Romania outside official border crossing points. This was reported by law enforcement agencies.
According to the investigation, under martial law the suspect agreed, for 8,000 dollars, to arrange the departure of a man liable for military service across the state border of Ukraine to Romania, bypassing official crossing points. In addition, for an extra 300 euros he allegedly promised to assist in legalising entry to European countries.
On 16 June, law enforcement officers detained the man on Stryiska Street in Lviv after he received the agreed 8,000 dollars. The detention was carried out under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The suspect has been notified that he is under suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal transfer of persons across the state border. The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years, with disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years, and with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by investigators of the Lviv Region police, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Lviv Region and procedural guidance from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
