«Ваша донька у лікарні, терміново потрібні кошти» - у Львові поліцейські викрили зловмисника, який видурював у пенсіонерів значні суми грошей

A 39-year-old resident of Zaporizhzhia, who temporarily lives in Lviv, illegally took possession of the funds of at least two elderly Lviv residents. “Safe Lvivshchyna” surveillance cameras helped the operatives of the criminal police to expose the perpetrator.

So, on March 21, a 67-year-old resident of Lviv contacted the police, who reported that an unknown man illegally took possession of her money.

Operatives of the criminal police and the investigative-operational group of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, as well as employees of the Department of Criminal Analysis of the Police of the Lviv Oblast worked at the scene of the incident. As the law enforcement officers established, an unknown man called the victim’s landline and informed her that her daughter had been in an accident, was in intensive care and urgently needed funds for treatment. Later, in the entrance of her house, the woman handed over all her savings to the intruder – 700 US dollars and 5,000 hryvnias.

Later, realizing that she was deceived, the victim turned to the police.

After conducting investigative measures and studying the video from the surveillance cameras of “Safe Lviv Region”, the police soon established the identity of the perpetrator involved in the commission of the crime, a 39-year-old resident of Zaporozhye who temporarily lives in Lviv, who has been repeatedly tried for property crimes.

It was also established that recently, in the same way, the perpetrator deceived an elderly resident of Lviv, who gave him 12,000 hryvnias “for the treatment of a relative after a road accident.”

According to both facts, investigators of the territorial division of the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanctions of the article is imprisonment for a term of up to three years.

Pre-trial investigations are ongoing.

The police once again appeal to citizens – if unknown people call you and demand money for the treatment of your relatives, first of all, call the person in question and find out if it is true. Never give strangers your home address or give them money.

If you have become a victim of fraudsters, contact the police immediately on the hotline 102.
