At the “Krakivets” border crossing point on the border with Poland, border guards together with customs officers discovered a large consignment of lithium-ion batteries in two minibuses that were being brought into Ukraine without proper declaration. This was reported by the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment.

During an inspection of a Mercedes minibus entering Ukraine, 6,358 lithium-ion batteries were found in the luggage compartment. The 38-year-old driver explained that he had collected the goods in Warsaw and was to deliver them to Lviv.

Another incident was recorded at the same crossing point during the inspection of another Mercedes minibus, which was also heading to Ukraine. In the vehicle, 8,257 of the same batteries were found. The 33-year-old driver stated that he had received the cargo in Warsaw and was also transporting it to Lviv.

In both cases of moving goods without declaration, administrative offence reports were drawn up. The undeclared cargo was seized and transferred to a customs warehouse.
