The traffic accident occurred on May 1, at about 08.40, in the village of Sokilnyky, Lviv district.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of an IVECO, a 35-year-old resident of a village in Stryi district, hit a Defiant scooter driven by a 50-year-old local resident.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the two-wheeler was injured and hospitalized.
Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Police opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the sanction of the article is up to three years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
